Copyright and complaints
Families upload their own school books to SubjectPal to make private lessons for their children. Books are never shown to other families or published. If you believe a book or other content on SubjectPal infringes your copyright or is illegal, tell us and we'll look at it.
How to report
Email info@subjectpal.com with the subject “Copyright or content report” and include:
- your name and email address, and who you act for (for example, the publisher);
- the work concerned: title, author, edition or ISBN;
- what you found and where, as precisely as you can — for example the address of a page, or the email address of the SubjectPal account if you know it;
- why you believe it infringes your rights or is illegal;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your report is accurate and complete, and, for copyright, that you own the rights or are allowed to act for the owner.
If you are in the United States and want to rely on the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, please also include your postal address, phone number and physical or electronic signature, and state, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act for the owner.
Because every family's books are private, you usually won't be able to see the upload you are reporting. Tell us what you know; we'll look for it ourselves.
What happens next
- We confirm that we've received your report, usually within two working days.
- We check the report. If it's clear and we find the content, we restrict or remove it, usually within seven days, sooner when it's urgent.
- We tell the family what we did, why, and how they can reply, unless the law or a risk to someone's safety prevents it.
- We tell you what we decided. We don't share a family's details with you unless the law requires it.
- Families that upload infringing books again after being told may lose their account.
Reports we can't act on — for example ones without enough information — get a reply saying what is missing. Please don't send reports you know are false; we may stop handling reports from someone who keeps doing so.
If your book was restricted or removed
Reply to our email within six months and tell us why you think we got it wrong — for example, that the school provided the book for your child or that the publisher allows this use. We'll look at it again and tell you the result. If we were wrong, we restore the book where we can. You can still use any other way of resolving the dispute the law gives you.
